Avionics and components for aircraft.
Our capabilities, developed through 25+ years of design and production of semiconductor test interfaces and combined with a deep passion for aviation, find new applications in the aviation industry.
The production of electronics and actively controlled flying surfaces for “Turbulence Cancelling” are on the path for certification.
From passion to plane: building the Luciole
T.I.P.S. is partner in the research program “SmartWings” during which the very first implementation of “Turbulence Cancelling” for manned flight was demonstrated with an experimental aircraft – the “Luciole”.
This aircraft – built by Rainer Gaggl – continues to serve as test bed in research, the integration of various electronics, sensing and data acquisition equipment being undertaken by our team of experts at T.I.P.S.
We are very proud of having been selected as design and production partner for producing the airborne electronics and turbulence sensing components, both for certified and ultralight aircraft and eventually leading to its implementation into commercial passenger transportation.
Key specs:
- Wingspan: 6.90 m
- Length: 4.74 m
- Wing area: 4.6 m²
- Max weight: 200 kg
- Max speed: 200 km/h
- Climb rate: 4.2 m/s
- Cruise speed: ~170 km/h
- Fuel consumption: ~5 L/hour
The Luciole, meaning “firefly,” lives up to its name: light, efficient, and elegantly designed.
By now, Rainer already got to enjoy a few transnational flights: all the way to France to meet Michael Colomban, the engineer of the “Luciole”.
The Luciole isn’t a “build today, fly tomorrow” aircraft. It’s more a “the journey is the reward” type of project.
